Laura Castro was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and moved to San Antonio in 1993 to attend St. Mary’s University, where she later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 in both Political Science and Criminal Justice.

After college, Ms. Castro enjoyed a career in Austin at the State Capitol, working in various capacities in state government, including Legislative Director, Lobbyist and Government Relations Specialist. In 2008, Ms. Castro returned to San Antonio to make it her home. She later enrolled in St. Mary’s University School of Law and participated in the Pro Bono Program opportunities assisting disadvantaged individuals with legal issues, such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Veteran’s Clinic and the ID Recovery Project at Haven for Hope. Ms. Castro graduated St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2015.

Ms. Castro joined The Law Office of Steven C. Benke in April of 2019. During her time with the firm she has focused exclusively on family law matters. Her experience includes the following: divorce, protective orders, temporary restraining orders, enforcement actions, modification of prior orders, termination of parental rights, adoption, child custody disputes, paternity, Attorney General and child support issues.

Ms. Castro is a certified Mediator in general and family law issues and volunteers her time as a mediator with the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center. She is a current member of the Texas Bar College, the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, the San Antonio Bar Association Family Law Section, and Texas Women’s Bar. She is also a member Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority.
